Cherwell Valley

North of Didcot once home to an hourly 47 hauled passenger not so long ago but now has a few 67 hauled passsengers trains for WSMR as well as a small bit of freight.

During the late 1990s 1O38 Edinburgh-Bournemouth was often worked by something 'odd' as it was the last new loco diagram of the day required at New Street, double heading 31s as seen here were not too uncommon. Here 31434 and 31190 lead 1O38 round thewes curve at Didcot - 1998

Hired in EWS/RES 47741 'Res Publica' leads a South-bound cross country service past Hinkey Yard, Oxford. This loco was later repainted into Virgin livery and taken on a long(ish) term lease (and the train is now worked by a 4 car DMU-Progress!?) - Winter 1999?
